Let’s talk Shatta Wale!
You have heard of him but know not much about him, here is everything you need to know about him.
Did you know the full name of the prevalent Ghanian Artiste Shatta Wale is Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., conceived October 17, 1984. He is a Ghanaian-born hit-maker and reggae-dance-hall performer. He is known by his stage name Shatta Wale (earlier Bandana), his best known tune is “Dance-hall King”, which prompted winning the Artiste of the Year at the 2014 release of the Ghana Music Awards. He ventured out to Jamaica to learn dance-hall. He is also said to have acted in the films Never Say Never and in Shattered Lives. According to Wikipedia, he has won 48 awards, most are Ghanaian awards.
The hit-maker is also very controversial, so, we are discussing the reasons why he is famous.
First of all let’s talk about his HIT TRACKS: He is known popularly for his numerous hit songs like kakai, roll it, dance-hall king etc., and he keeps on dropping tracks no matter what, hits or not?
That helped him win most of the awards in and outside the country, thus, becoming one of the most successful Ghanaian artiste. He is best known for his biggest breakthrough hit song “Dance-hall King” which earned him the Artiste of the year award, 2014 maiden edition of the Ghana Music Awards. His greatest hit in 2014 took the air waves by surprise. In the same year, his song “You Can’t Touch Me” was widely used for the Dancers against racism campaign worldwide.
Secondly, BEEF: Shatta Wale is synonymous with attacking his musical colleagues on social media.
Last year, he even attacked Nigerian renowned artistes Wizkid, Timaya amongst others, claiming he is better than all Nigerian artiste put together (what an arrogance!) and even making diss tracks for them. Fighting with his colleagues in the industry is his hobby. Everyone in Ghana knows he likes making diss tracks to insult other musicians and other entertainers as well. Due to his uncomfortable lifestyle, he had so much misunderstanding with some of his colleagues including Samini which led him to compose “Me gye Wo Girl” track as the most trending track in the year 2015. This attitude of his makes him a proud musician as known by most.
Again, GHETTO LIFE: Most Ghanaians from the ghetto engage in drugs, therefore they see him as the ghetto king.
He sometimes goes on stage with a lighter and encourage the youth to smoke. This act has made him gain more popularity in the ghettos, hence, they like him for his dirty actions that represent theirs.
Furthermore, RUDE/NAUGHTY: He is sometimes seen as disrespectful, doesn’t mind telling an elderly man how he feels.
This makes people talk about him always, better known as the controversy king.
Finally, BEING SIGNED TO POPULAR RECORD LABELS gave him the opportunity to be internationally recognized.
His Record Label was Shatta Movement Records (SM4LYF) before been signed to Zylofon Music, the music wing of Entertainment Company.
