Following the tentative suspension of the 2months old Industrial Action of the Ekiti State University (EKSU) branch of The Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) after it’s Congress on thursday, a former Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Femi Bamisile has challenged the State Governor, Ayo Fayose to ensure the requests of the local branch of ASUU are met in earnest so that the University enjoys smooth academic calendar even when the Labour Unions at the State owned College of Education have down tooled for over 3 weeks.
The All Progressives Congress, APC stalwart stated this in Ado Ekiti while reacting to the conditional suspension of the strike. “We are in March 2018, it is disheartening and worrisome that the University has only received her monthly subvention of July 2017 , one questions the sincerity of the commitment of Ayo Fayose to Education in the Fountain of Knowledge”. Bamisile stated.
He appreciates the patriotism of the members of staff of the University to work despite the unpaid salaries & allowances over time and enjoined them to do more as this tough times shall end soon.
