Ask Us Your Most Basic Cooking Questions

Almost two years ago, we launched The Grown-Up Kitchen, and asked you all for your most fundamental cooking questions. Knowing what readers didn’t know let me fill in those gaps in knowledge, which (hopefully) made for better, happier home cooks.

Unsurprisingly, I’d like to do it all again. No question is too rudimentary, so don’t be embarrassed; we’ve covered everything from scrambling eggs to making a roux. If you’re new to cooking, and are intimidated by a recipe or dish, I want to know what it is and why. If you’ve been cooking a long time but are continuously baffled by one particular technique, share your troubles, friend. If, somehow, you still have questions about eggs, lay ‘em on me. If you need help choosing the best butter, flour, oil, or liquor for a particular job, I want to point you in the right direction. This is your time to influence what you see on Skillet, so use it wisely, and don’t be shy.
